Do you feel lonely, unaccepted, shunned by polite company? Alternatively, are you wildly popular and loved by all who know you? Is your wisdom about foreign policy sought after by world leaders or are you as dumb as a rock, checking your driver's license regularly to remember how to spell your name? Are you one of the beautiful people or do you look like this?
Well, regardless of who you are, HFAV is for you! HFAV stands for "Hicken Family Adventures" and the name says it all. Our goal is to promote and organize activities that encourage fitness and fun.
If you are a Hicken by birth or marriage, you have no choice, you are automatically a member of our august group. If you are a friend of a Hicken, you are officially welcomed to our club, especially if you own a truck.
The aim of our blog is to provide a forum for HFAV members to share their adventures and to promote "official" HFAV events. We hope all members will periodically post pictures, videos and notes about the adventures they are having so we can all see what you are doing and be motivated by your experience.
Use the following guide when deciding what consistutes an "adventure". Did you try a new flavor of burrito today? Did you find a black sock clinging to your skirt? Did you find a good price on toilet paper? Did you watch that episode of Star Trek DS9 when the crew goes back in time to the days of the original Enterprise and find a bomb stuck in a tribble and they beam it off the ship just in time but then they take some tribbles back to the future and end up creating an ecological disaster on the promenade deck as tribbles reproduce like rabbits and one sits on Quark's head? (I just saw that episode again the other day--a classic) Anyway, these are NOT adventures.
On the other hand, did you try a new burrito during a break from your ascent of Mt. Everest? Did you find a black sock stuck to your speedo while you were swimming the first leg of the Ironman? Was that great price on toilet paper found while you were stocking up on supplies for a month long walkabout across the Australian outback? Were you actually on the Enterprise? These are adventures and are eligible for posting on the blog.
Seriously, as a fledgling organization, we'll take all comers. Just get out there and have some fun and then post your pics and stories on the blog. Join us for our HFAV sponsored events and suggest some fun ideas of your own. Let's see where this takes us.
